AMAR JAWAN

6th of August 2013 - 5 Indian jawans were ambushed and killed at the LoC.

The news although being painful was nothing new for India. Pakistanis violating ceasefire, crossing the LoC and killing Indian soldiers has become a repetitive affair. Not many months ago another dastardly and inhumane attack by Pakistanis claimed the lives of two of our Indian jawans. They were not only killed but also beheaded!!

After the recent killings all eyes were set on how our political class would react to the incident. Surely they didn’t disappoint our expectations. A.K. Antony showed that our politicians aren’t competent enough to even give a proper official statement on such a critical issue. After much uproar in the Parliament did our defense minister come up with the correct version of the incident. At the end of the day if the top representatives of our country are busy juggling statements like jokers and are unable to issue a proper, final one then taking stern actions against Pakistan is a distant vision.

Every time such an incident takes place and you get to read and hear that India warning Pak not to take its restraint for granted. Peace talks are stalled and the Pak PM is asked to take proper actions. But nothing is actually done to cut off the root cause. Just playing with dialogues, warning statements and shouting Aman Ki Aasha won’t work. Something more realistic needs to be done because the ground reality is that precious lives are being lost and families are getting detached from their dear ones forever.

Pak army which goes hand in hand with terror outfits is a big worry for India. Dismantling of terror groups on Pakistani soil was part of the much talked about manifesto of new Pak PM-Nawaz Sharif. Its time he proves his worth. Indian politicians on the other hand need to put up a more united and sterner stand against Pakistan. Good army leadership with the readiness to retaliate as and when required is needed at the border. With India investing so much on its defense, it shouldn’t be hesitant on answering Pak’s challenges.

Last but not the least, politicians coming up with remarks like “people join Army and police to get martyred” show their insensitivity and lack of patriotism. They are no less than the Pakistanis who killed our soldiers. Such callous people should be suspended to help them get time in finding some sense.

It’s time the Indian government valued its soldiers. Routine condolences and announcement of aids to their families after their death is no way out. It’s time that action spoke more than words.

As a citizen of India I would like to pay my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.

We would be celebrating 66 years of Independence on 15th August. I would like to pay salute and homage to the 5 Indian soldiers and many others who have laid down their precious lives till date in keeping our country Independent.

Rest in peace

BEYOND COLOR

Behind every successful man there is a woman. We have all heard this somewhere or the other. Haven’t we??

But before anyone thinks that I am interested to take a sarcastic dig at it, let me make my support for the tagline clear. I know an Indian couple, perhaps the most beautiful which is helping the one liner fly high. Check the man’s success and you find even SRK, the leading man of Bollywood promoting him. Hold your breath or rather your eyes before you see them. And the couple is "Mr. Fair and Handsome AND Mrs. Fair and Lovely". Hope you get their names. If not, then its the fairness of "Mr. Fair and Handsome AND Mrs. Fair and Lovely" to blame. Sorry for rewriting their names(this time in black). So beautiful they are that even God takes times to categorize them as humans and not aliens. Firstly it was Fair and Lovely with her impeccable figure to walk the ramp of the Indian market and then it was Fair and Handsome with all his masculinity to complement his better half’s success. So humble they were that they didn’t leave the public envy them. Cream and just a cream is what we have to emulate them.

Smear handful of cream top to bottom, left to right and on every nook and corner of your body and be ready to be a handsome man or a lovely woman. Forget relying on Cupid for finding love, rather be ready to for everyone to get attracted by you. Broadening and brightening of your smile are guaranteed. For anyone doubting me I would say “Ad nahi dekha kya?? SRK toh yehi use karta hain”.

Fair and Handsome – World No. 1 Fairness cream.
Zyada lasting Fairness for men who want Zyada.

At end of the day its beauty that goes to shit. Be it daily sops or films, exposed body part of anyone involved is painted with white paint.  Pulling out the trend from the reel life many of us do the same in our real life. Applying fairness cream a day keeps ugliness away has become a myth in today’s society. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder is true but branding beauty only on basis of fairness is next to blindness. Even someone who is dark skinned can melt you heart with his/her beauty.

Seeing people overload their faces with fairness cosmetics and then turn almost unrecognizable without them is idiotic. Isn't it??For them I can’t avoid but murmur the harsh words – ‘beauty without brains’.

Beauty and good looks are two different things, but both don’t have anything to do with being fair or dark. Looks is an accessory, but good character is mandatory.

Sidelining a person on basis of color is racism. Most of us desire for fair skinned life partners. Don’t we?? So we shouldn’t be ashamed in admitting that we are biased. We need to shed this. We should respect our own skin and body and be graceful to what our parents made us.
For me anyone who is clean (hygienic) and who has a good character to share is beautiful.

But seeing media and common public exude ‘Fair is beautiful’, I would like to join those saying ‘Dark is beautiful’.

100s Around Which India Revolves

100 – A CENTURY - There are some rarest of the cases when even God takes the backseat and CRICKET in India is perfectly one of them. The craze has turned the game into religion and the players into demigods. The better they play the more they are revered. Over the years the fans have shown great obsession for batsmen. A century is momentous for the batsman but more than that it feeds the expectations of millions. Great centuries by Sachin, Rahul, Ganguly and numerous others have left an indelible mark on the minds of fans resulting in overwhelming respect for such players.

100 CRORE FILM - Thanks to the growing population, increasing multiplexes and high ticket prices, Bollywood films find themselves in a fantasy world of so called “100 crore club”.  Again its India’s public which is playing the pivotal role. Be it SRK’s romance, Sallu’s action or groovy item songs, the fans don’t mind spending money for a 3 hour refreshment after a hard day’s work. Story or no story, every Bollywood actor and actress surely likes to be part of a 100 crore grosser.
Entertainment, Entertainment and Entertainment. Seeing this madness the 100 crore club is turning out to be an easy deal nowadays.

100 RUPEES -MONEY - Admit it or not, money is everything in this materialistic and ruthless world. Money can bring about every mood change in the dictionary. Today every person can be visualized as a dog waging its tongue, not for food but for money. Money can buy everything for it. Can’t it??

Speaking about economy, India lives up to its tag of diversity. It has produced 61 billionaires and at the same time houses a third of world’s people falling below the poverty line. India ranks 9th in terms of nominal GDP.
But where there is money there is the never quenching hunger for more and more money. It’s up to a person, whether he chooses the right path or the wrong one. Courtesy to the latter India is one of the most corrupt countries in the world.
In this materialistic world money makes one do some of the weirdest things and Indians are no different.

100 CRORE + INDIAN POPULATION - Each of us wrote essays on growing Indian population and for sure our grandchildren would even do the same. There is no stopping the Indian population. Its people and only people everywhere!!
Hunger, poverty, illiteracy, unemployment are few of the many side effects of the rapid reproduction. India can’t even afford a “Hum do Humare do” principle any longer.
In Indian society, not marrying or failing to produce a child attracts bizarre talks and conclusions. Marriage does give love a new dimension but when it comes to having a child can’t the answer be one of the 31 million orphans in India??

INSPIRATION IN DISGUISE

What would life be if we were to succeed in everything we did? What if there was nothing called ’failure’?? I’m sure most of you will agree if I say- life would then had become boring and unchallengeable. Today’s world is full of lazy minds looking for shortcuts to success, reading books on success mantras, etc.  But despite all this, at the end of the day each individual does thrive for that minimum quota of success required for his or her satisfaction. In the process the person faces obstacles and if he is not able to cross them due to some reason or the other, he terms his attempt to be a failure. Instead of taking failure as a lesson most of us take it as a mistake which we try never to repeat in future. In today’s society failure has become something to fear, avoid and prevent at all costs. This is where a person goes wrong. One must understand that failure can act as a guide to more worthwhile activities. We learn new skills in life and most of them we learn only after failing to do them properly. It’s very important to etch in our minds that we cannot distance ourselves from failure. We can succeed in a particular thing, but it doesn’t ensure the same for our future prospects. So, it’s better to expect for the best but be prepared for the worst. It’s useless to shield oneself from failure as that would seriously affect your future success prospects. Be bold enough to accept that you have failed.

Failure teaches us many things that success doesn’t. Firstly, getting easy and quick success can make a person complacent. But a person who has witnessed failure always keeps himself humble at times of success. He is matured enough to understand that there is nothing to over boost about his achievements. He knows many more hurdles are waiting for him, during which he has to face the pain of the thorns. Chances of failure can never be averted. This is life, an inseparable mixture of success and failure.Once someone fails, the individual gets that valuable opportunity to assess himself. Where did I go wrong?  How can I improve myself? He gets that time to understand and self-motivate himself. It is then that one comes up with an alternate approach and starts believing that yes I can succeed. Eventually success gets even sweeter when you accomplish something after series of setbacks. Failure is indeed an opportunity to achieve success. It teaches us what not to do and pushes us to look for another approach until we find one that works. Failure ultimately checks how resolute and tough one is.

We're all human and it's human to hate failure. I think it's especially difficult for us as adults. Because we're older, we feel we should succeed more quickly than we did when we were young. So we slip back into the attitude we had when we were young. We start fearing failure and get easily frustrated. But now we usually lack an older authority, a "parent", to keep us on track. We have to do it ourselves. We can end up being focused on our limitations instead of on our potential and its then that we "fail". If we want our middle age to be successful, we have to learn that failure is important and shouldn't be feared. It should be seen for what it is, a step on the road to success.

No one can guess the number of failed attempts one has to make to achieve something. It all depends on the person’s approach and how competent he is for the goal he is thriving for. One must be convinced that he is trying for the right thing and should approach it with maximum confidence, skill and dedication. Try avoiding being deliberately over precautionary in fear of failure that might be lurking around. There are scores of examples of people who achieved what they desired to be in spite of initial failures.

It’s very rightly said that “failures are stepping stones to success”. Indeed failure is an inspiration in disguise.
